Madonna Honors Luther Vandross Estate Request to Remove Him From Celebration Tour AIDS Tribute

Madonna has honored the Luther Vandross estate's request to remove the late musician from a tribute dedicated to artists who battled AIDS.

Although the singer was never diagnosed with AIDS or HIV, his image appeared in a montage during "Live to Tell" alongside Freddie Mercury, Herb Ritts, and Keith Haring Also pictured was Luther Vandross, whose estate requested that Madonna remove from the tribute because he “was NEVER diagnosed with AIDS or the HIV Virus.” The note continued: “Thank you, Madonna, for your advocacy and compassion, and for raising important awareness of the ongoing mission to end AIDS.
