There were critics, like Carleto Berganti, who said that the behavior of the Pope leads them to idol worship which made him in turn a target of ongoing battle with justifying other users on the pontiff. While most focused on the fact that the Pontiff had been extraordinarily caring toward the marginalized, like members of the LGBTQ+ community and the poor, they also posed the all-important question of whether being progressive truly brings one back to faith.
