Lupita Nyong’o Talks Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off: “It Lifted My Spirits”

Lupita Nyong’o reveals how she got vulnerable with Taylor Swift to get clearance to use ‘Shake it off’ in ‘Little Monsters’.

The Academy-award winning actress mentioned how when she was working on her film Little Monsters that when producers were unable to clear the rights to use Swift’s tune she would take matters into her own hands. I’m going to go, I’m going to make a pitch, I’m going to let Taylor know what this song means to me and I told her that story about how it lifted me from an almost depression and the next thing I knew, it was cleared.” She further explained, “When I was working in London on Star Wars, I was going through a lot of self-doubt because it was the second thing I had done,” she recalled.
