Lupe Fiasco Will Teach Rap at Johns Hopkins’ Peabody Institute


Lupe Fiasco revealed that he'll be teaching rap at Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Institute later this year.

The reigning music style evolved in rapid, anarchic ways, rocking the industry establishment that long resisted its power, and fully embodying the culture of youth even as it grew. “Let’s hit the ground running in 2025… Thrilled to share that I’ll be joining the faculty at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute in Fall 2025 as a Distinguished Visiting Professor,” Fiasco wrote, thanking the degree program leader, musician Wendel Patrick. Students can get a and develop both musical traits and “business and career skills you’ll need in the real world.” The program also teased that rap majors would be able to work with a “chart-topping emcee,” in reference to Fiasco.
