Luc Besson’s Secret Lockdown Film ‘June & John’ Finally Emerges With Trailer, Spring Release and Details: ‘A Love Story for the Ages’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Shot entirely on a phone during the pandemic, the film is a described as "love story for the ages" and harks back to Besson's stylised early work

Almost three years after it was first announced and with radio silence since then, “June & John” — Luc Besson ‘s secret project that he shot during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020 — has re-emerged with guns blazing (literally). The plot — which had remained under wraps until now — follows John, a young man stuck in a monotonous routine, whose life is transformed when he meets June, a vibrant and fearless woman. In the energetic trailer, which offers flashes of early Besson titles such as “Subway,” “La Femme Nikita,” “Leon” and even “The Fifth Element,” but this time basking under the Californian sunshine (it was mostly shot in LA), there are pill-popping office workers, SWAT teams knocking down motel room doors, gun-toting, bank-robbing women sporting an array of colourful wigs, at least one helicopter chase and an open-topped car driving into the sunset.
