Love Your Weekend star Alan Titchmarsh once suffered a terrifying health scare in which he hoped death was on its way as the pain became unbearable. Speaking about the ordeal, he said: “I hoped I wasn’t going to die, and I was hanging on in there but the pain was so acute at one point I thought it might be a blessed relief.” Wife Alison then called the emergency services and Alan was taken to the nearest hospital to his Isle of Wight home, St Mary’s.
