Love Island contestants 'break huge show rule' to discover General Election results ahead of watching England's Euro 2024 final

Despite ITV bosses 'main rule' being that bombshells can't speak about current affairs, the outside information was leaked.

Ahead of the Love Island launch last month, executive producer Mike Spencer confirmed that this year's lineup would still have the opportunity to vote, even if they were due to be in the villa when the registration period closed. Reality shows have previously bent the rules regarding major world events to ensure stars receive the most vital updates, with Big Brother famously telling housemates in 2017 the results of that year's General Election. Ollie Watkins' 90th minute winner saw Gareth Southgate's men book their place in Sunday's showdown against Spain in Berlin, sparking wild celebrations across the nation where nearly 30million people were watching at home.
