London Film Festival: ‘The Summer Book’ & Joshua Oppenheimer’s ‘The End’ Among Titles Added To Lineup
Joshua Oppenheimer’s ‘The End’ has also been added to the lineup.
Directed, produced, and written by McQueen, the film follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. Through his success as a musician, working with Nick Cave and as a member of both the Bad Seeds and Dirty Three, he co-founded a wildlife sanctuary that provides animals damaged by human captivity with a new lease on life. Brimming with poetry and emotional gravity, their words make hauntingly real the memories of António de Oliveira Salazar’s dictatorship and subsequent political upheaval.
