Lily Allen's returned dog Mary is 'alive, well and living her best life' as the singer engages in social media spat with PETA over 'dangerous' post

Lily, 39, has been in the centre of controversy in recent days as she was slammed by PETA, after she admitted that she returned her pet to an animal shelter when it ate her and her children's passports and visas. Lily, who lives in New York with her actor husband David Harbour, 49, and children Ethel, 13 and Marnie, 11, made the admission to her friend and fellow co-host Miquita Oliver, complaining that adopting the pooch 'ruined her life' after it cost a fortune to replace the documents - and added it prevented her daughters seeing their father for months. Posting over the weekend, Lily explained: 'We rescued our puppy Mary from a shelter in NY and we loved her very much, BUT she developed pretty severe separation anxiety and would act out in all manner of ways.'
