Lili Estefan and Raúl De Molina Celebrate 27 Years of Univision’s ‘El Gordo y la Flaca’ Ahead of Walk of Fame Honor: ‘This Is Opening Doors for Everyone’

Lili Estefan and Raúl De Molina open up about their journey to "El Gordo y la Flaca" ahead of their Hollywood Walk of Fame honor.

For 27 years — yes, you read that right — the pair have co-hosted entertainment news show “El Gordo y la Flaca” (which translates to “The Fat Man and the Skinny Girl”), one of Univision’s most-watched and longest-running series. De Molina has walked the galaxy of stars many times, but noted that few names from Hispanic entertainment media have been welcomed into the club, including “Sábado Gigante” host Don Francisco and Cristina Saralegui, known as the “Spanish-Cuban Oprah.” He says they are humbled to strengthen that representation. But the hosts embrace this remnant of their early days, although De Molina notes he lost 60 pounds in recent years, and Estefan jokes there was no guarantee she’d uphold her title as “the skinny girl” after having two children, contract or not.
