Liam Payne Recalls Band's 'Not Normal' Origins in Final TV Gig Before Death
Liam Payne reflected on forming One Direction in his final TV appearance on Netflix's 'Building the Band' before his death
Netflix released the trailer for their upcoming series Building the Band on Tuesday, June 24, which showed Payne helping create the next big music group as a guest judge alongside Kelly Rowland. Over the years, the former band members showed support for each other’s individual projects but didn’t officially reunite in public as a group ahead of Payne’s death in October 2024 at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. The founding members of the boy band — Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — initially auditioned for The X Factor UK in 2010 as solo acts.
