LeVar Burton visits DC youth, encourages environmental conservation efforts


Maybe you know LeVar Burton for his roles in Star Trek or Roots, or even saw him read books in the PBS series Reading Rainbow. But on Tuesday, the world-famed actor appeared in D.C.

Burton, who's also an environmental conservation activist, visited youth at the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services' Oasis Program, receiving a tour of the program's campus near Fort Meade. "This campus is a dream come true forthe corps in terms of having a learning space where the work can be done," Burton told 7News.
