Les Dilley, a Welsh production designer and art director who worked on 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' and 'Star Wars,' died Tuesday. He was 84.
Les Dilley, a Welsh production designer and art director who won Academy Awards for their work on “ Raiders of the Lost Ark ” and “ Star Wars,” died Tuesday from complications of Alzheimer’s. Dilley is best known for his work on the immortal Lucasfilm franchise starters “Star Wars” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” He received Oscars for best art direction for both films in 1978 and 1982, respectively. His other notable credits include “Superman,” “An American Werewolf in London,” “Never Say Never Again,” “Legend,” “The Exorcist III,” “Casper,” “Deep Impact” and “Inspector Gadget.”
