Lenny Henry issues a Red Nose Day update after it was revealed that he would be stepping down as host of the telethon after 39 years
The actor and comedian, 65, who co-founded the charity alongside Richard Curtis, confirmed the 2024 BBC special will be his last.
Confirming his departure from presenting duties in January, Charlotte Moore, BBC's Chief Content Officer, said: 'This year's Red Nose Day will be his last on screen but it promises to be extra special as we take the opportunity to mark his remarkable achievements on the night.' Lenny decided it was time for new names to take the presenter reins but he confirmed on Wednesday that he will continue to support Comic Relief and Red Nose Day on other projects throughout the year (pictured in 2005) Lenny will be joined by Joel Dommett, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuiness, Romesh Ranganathan, David Tennant, Maya Jama and Rosie Ramsey in hosting the 2024 show.
