Leighton Meester Joins Season 2 Cast Of Apple’s ‘The Buccaneers’

Leighton Meester (Single Parents, River Wild) has joined the season two cast of Apple TV+'s period drama series The Buccaneers.

Created and written by Katherine Jakeways based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel, the series stars Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton, Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag and Imogen Waterhouse. Per the official synopsis, “in the first season of The Buccaneers, a group of fun-loving young American girls exploded into the tightly corseted London of the 1870s…setting hearts racing and kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash. The show has been compared in scope and tone to Netflix smash Bridgerton, although speaking to Deadline late last year, director Susanna White sought to downplay the comparisons.
