Lea Michele Returning to Broadway in ‘Chess’ Revival

Lea Michele will return to Broadway starring with Aaron Tveit and Nicholas Christopher in the long-rumored "Chess" revival.

Set amid the Cold War, the musical involves a chess tournament between two grandmasters, one American and the other Soviet, as they fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other. “Chess” began as a concept album from ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and “Evita’s” Tim Rice before the show opened on London’s West End in 1986. Michele was most recently on Broadway in the 2022 production “Funny Girl,” replacing Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice in the musical’s first revival since Barbra Streisand originated the role in 1964.
