Lauren Sánchez Celebrates Son Evan's First Solo Helicopter Flight: 'So Proud'

Lauren Sánchez is celebrating her son Evan’s first-ever solo helicopter flight with a special message on Instagram.

The philanthropist and children's book author — who opened up about her own piloting journey in this week's issue of PEOPLE — marked the special occasion with a post on her Instagram page that featured footage of Evan, 18, taking off by himself for the very first time. Fittingly, the post included a shot of the proud mom grinning from ear-to-ear with her son, one of the two teenagers she shares with ex-husband, top Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell. My kids were like, ‘Oh no, this poor little fly is separated from his family!’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, she gets to see the world from a completely different perspective,' " Sánchez told PEOPLE in this week's issue.
