Larry David Attacked Elmo on Live TV and Joked ‘Someone Had to Do It,’ Then Apologized After Being Told ‘You’ve Gone Too Far This Time’

Larry David shocked "Today" viewers by assaulting Elmo on live television.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and the “Sesame Street” icon were separate interview guests on the NBC morning show, but they had a brief crossover moment when David crashed the set and groped Elmo’s face much to the horror of the “Today” hosts. Later during his sit-down interview with Guthrie and Kotb, David looked directly into the camera to issue an apology to the “Sesame Street” star. It’s been quite the week for Elmo, who unexpectedly went viral on X (formerly Twitter) after asking his followers a simple question: “How is everybody doing?” The replies came flooding in and they were full of existential dread.
