LAPD Explains Why Killer Mike Was Arrested at GRAMMYs After His Wins
The rapper was taken away in handcuffs at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
"On Sunday Feb. 4th just after 4pm a male adult was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation that occurred at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court," the account wrote. The department went on to identify the suspect as 48-year-old Michael Render, Killer Mike's legal name, adding that the performer was "booked for Misdemeanor Battery 243(A) PC, and is in the process of being released." Killer Mike, an activist who champions social equality and who is no stranger to speaking out against police brutality, won his first GRAMMY in 2003 with Outkast for "The Whole World" in the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group category.
