Kyle MacLachlan Hopes Nobody Tries to Reboot ‘Twin Peaks’: ‘Don’t Touch That!’

Kyle MacLachlan explained why he hopes to never see a 'Twin Peaks' reboot with new actors.

The longtime David Lynch collaborator best known for playing FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper on the groundbreaking television show was asked about the possibility of a reboot while appearing at Canneseries to promote his role on “Fallout” (via Deadline). MacLachlan went on to reflect on the show’s unlikely success when it premiered in 1990, explaining that Lynch’s surrealism and its unprecedented serialized format led many cast members to believe it would be quickly canceled. While MacLachlan doesn’t want to see the show rebooted, he has previously expressed his openness to suiting up as Dale Cooper again if Lynch decides to revive “Twin Peaks.” In a 2020 conversation with IndieWire, he refused to rule out a hypothetical return to the character, though he gave a blunt answer when asked if he knew anything about future plans for the series.
