Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi exclusively tells Us Weekly how her two daughters, Keara and Emma, found out that she was getting her own Barbie doll
The miniature version of Yamaguchi comes dressed in the athlete’s iconic 1992 skating costume, which she wore when she won the gold medal in the Olympics. After the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony took place in July 2021, the athletes have begun competing in all sorts of new and existing sporting events — and racking up medals. Mattel launched Yamaguchi’s doll in celebration of the start of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Heritage Month.
