King Charles' move to stop Harry and Andrew from stepping in for him revealed


Despite both Prince Andrew and Prince Harry remaining as Counsellors of State, neither would be called upon to carry out duties for King Charles, due to a small change he made

Some argued that Andrew and Harry should be stripped of their roles as Counsellors completely, as neither are working members of the Royal Family, when the bill passed through the Commons and House of Lords. Princess Anne was added to the list of people who can step in for King Charles if needed (Image: Getty Images)A significant rule added to the act by King Charles means Anne, 73, and Edward, 59, will be counsellors for the rest of their lives, but Harry, Andrew and Beatrice will gradually be replaced when Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are older. His Majesty's upcoming medical procedure to treat an enlarged prostate does not require him to appoint Counsellors of State to act for him, the Palace has confirmed.
