King Charles owns iconic palace – but no royal has lived there for 250 years

King Charles still owns this famous palace but has never lived there - and you will certainly recognise it as a backdrop in many of your favourite movies and TV shows

While some properties have been demolished or repurposed, one palace on the edge of London is still cherished by the Royal Family as a key historic site, despite the fact that no monarch has lived there in over 250 years. The palace, which was built to be as lavish as possible, features kitchens so big that they prepared up to 1,600 meals a day at their peak, and the Great Hall where Henry VIII held his banquets. A number of famous movies and TV shows have been filmed there, including Netflix's Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, The Favourite, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Young Victoria, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Disney's Cinderella, The Theory of Everything and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!
