King Charles III Unveils Post-Coronation Portrait Amid Cancer Battle: See Photos

One year after he was crowned king, Charles revealed his brand-new painting at Buckingham Palace.

“When I started this project, His Majesty The King was still His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and much like the butterfly I’ve painted hovering over his shoulder, this portrait has evolved as the subject’s role in our public life has transformed,” the statement read via X. The palace also noted in its statement, “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
