King Charles III Unveils 1st Portrait Since His Coronation


The first painted portrait of King Charles III since his 2023 coronation was unveiled on Tuesday, May 14

“Today, The King unveiled a new portrait by [artist Jonathan Yeo] at Buckingham Palace,” the royal family wrote alongside a video shared via their official X account. Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that King Charles III received a cancer diagnosis one week after he was admitted to The London Clinic to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate. “When I started this project, His Majesty The King was still His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and much like the butterfly I’ve painted hovering over his shoulder, this portrait has evolved as the subject’s role in our public life has transformed.
