Jonathan Yeo, the artist behind King Charles III’s new portrait, explained why he chose to use the color red throughout the painting

Prior to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III had been the heir apparent to the British throne for seven decades. Nearly five years before Queen Elizabeth II assumed the British throne, she and husband Prince Philip welcomed their first child, son King Charles III. “Today, The King unveiled a new portrait by @RealJonathanYeo at Buckingham Palace,” the royal family wrote with a video shared via their official X account.
