Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ diagnosis in February 2024, confirming that he had “commenced a schedule of regular treatments.” He briefly paused his public duties before returning to work in April 2024. “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” the palace said in a statement at the time, noting that he had since returned to Clarence House to recover.
