King Charles Attends D-Day Event in 1st Overseas Trip Since Cancer Diagnosis

King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the official D-Day 80th anniversary commemorative event in Normandy, France

“How fortunate we were, and the entire free world, that a generation of men and women in the United Kingdom and other Allied nations did not flinch when the moment came to face that test,” he said to a crowd of veterans. “On the beaches of Normandy, on the seas beyond, and in the skies overhead, our armed forces carried out their duty with a humbling sense of resolve and determination,” he added. Charles continued, “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations [that] support cancer patients and their families across the U.K. and wider world.
