King Charles and Queen Camilla have paid tribute to Dame Maggie Smith following her death at the age of 87. The beloved actress died in hospital on Friday morning

King Charles and Queen Camilla have honoured Dame Maggie Smith with heartfelt words: "As the curtain comes down on a national treasure, we join all those around the world in remembering with the fondest admiration and affection her many great performances, and her warmth and wit that shone through both off and on the stage." King Charles paid tribute to MaggieDame Maggie's exceptional talent won her Academy Awards for her performances in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and California Suite. Her latest film, The Miracle Club, released last year, sees her sharing the screen with stars like Kathy Bates and Laura Linney.
