Kevan Staples dead at 74: Co-founder of alt-rock band Rough Trade opened for David Bowie in the '80s


His death was announced in a social media post by band co-founder Carole Pope.  'He was a bright light that will burn forever,' she wrote on Instagram. The cause of death was not shared.

Kevan Staples, who was the co-founder of legendary 1970s alt rock band Rough Trade from Toronto, died on Sunday at the age of 74. Some of their best-known tunes touched on lesbians and bondage with song named like Lie Back, Let Me Do Everything and Dyke by Default.
