Kesha Says TikTok Is ‘Temporary’ But Her 2009 Hit ‘TiK ToK’ Is ‘Forever’

As the potential TikTok ban looms over the social media platform, Kesha is reminding fans of the OG "TiK ToK."

I remember making it fun and happy because that’s how I felt and wanted others to feel,” she wrote alongside the track’s glitter-heavy cover art. She added that she “loves” the lyric change that she hopes to make “permanent” on the recording one day when she has the “legal rights to.” After altering the song during Reneé Rapp’s Coachella festival set in April to include the line “f— P. Diddy” — in light of accusations of sexual misconduct against the rapper and mogul — Kesha doubled down by tweeting, “WAKE UP IN THE MORNING LIKE F— P DIDDY” in all caps. On Friday (Jan. 17), the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal statute that will effectively ban the platform from the country over national security concerns, rejecting the company’s arguments that the law violates the First Amendment.
