Kerry Katona rejoices as former accountant who 'bankrupted her' pleads guilty

Kerry Katona has spoken out after her former accountant, who she claims was the reason she was declared bankrupt, pleaded guilty to fraud charges

The 67 year old, also known as David McHugh, will face sentencing at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in October after he pleaded guilty to four counts of deception, along with charges of falsely operating as an insolvency practitioner and a qualified barrister. The court heard that he had been charged after a "vast" probe into allegations that he had been impersonating a barrister and had billed approximately €1.2m to around 1,500 clients for various legal services. The former Atomic Kitten singer faced financial turmoil when she was declared bankrupt at the High Court in London on August 21, 2008, due to an unpaid £82,000 from a £417,000 tax bill.
