Kemi Badenoch Becomes UK Conservative Party Leader, Beating Robert Jenrick In Final Vote
Badenoch replaces Rishi Sunak, who stood down as party leader following the Conservatives' defeat in the 2024 general election.
Party members across the country voted in the contest, which followed the Tory party defeat in the UK general election this summer, after which defeated prime minister Rishi Sunak said he would stand down. Conservative Party chairman Richard Fuller introduced the conference to announce the result in London 11am Saturday morning. 1922 committee chairman Bob Blackman then announced the winner of the leadership campaign.
