The singer told Drury Outdoors that making the top 20 on The Voice in 2014 (and being coached by Usher and Adam Levine) “was the best thing” to happen to him. “I got a letter saying I wasn’t ‘interesting’ enough for the show,” he told Whiskey Riff of The Voice, but producers’ praise for his singing gave him confidence.
