Katy Perry edits Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech to kick off Pride Month: 'Fixed this'

Katy Perry kicked off Pride Month by posting a heavily edited version of Harrison Butker’s viral commencement speech, changing key messages of the controversial address. On June 1, which marks the start of a month dedicated to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, Perry shared an edited version of the Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s recent remarks on Instagram. Jonathan Beane, the NFL’s senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, said in a statement obtained by TODAY.com that the kicker “gave a speech in his personal capacity.”
