Kathy Bates Rips Up Her Golden Globes Speech After Losing Award to Shogun’s Anna Sawai
Kathy Bates had a viral moment at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards when she appeared to rip up her acceptance speech after losing the award in her category.
Kathy, 76, was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series — Drama at the ceremony on Sunday, January 5, for her role in Matlock. Others nominated in the category were Emma D’Arcy for House of the Dragon, Keira Knightley for Black Doves, Keri Russell for The Diplomat and Maya Erskine for Mr. & Mrs. Smith. She also advised everyone to be nice to the PA’s and to grab snacks and water from the craft table when you wrap filming at night on location because “hotel minibars are a scam.”
