Kathy Bates fans delight over Matlock season 2 decision despite her vow to retire


Kathy Bates could be the new queen of network television despite her vow to retire from acting. The Matlock star told her co-stars on a conference call Tuesday, 'We've been picked up for season two.'

Co-stars Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, Leah Lewis and David Del Rio were on the Zoom along with show creator Jennie Snyder Urman and executive producer Eric Christian Olsen when the Oscar winner broke the news. 'This reconceived "Matlock" was devised by Jennie Snyder Urman with a brilliant surprise plot twist, and we knew we had something very special the moment we saw the first episode brought to life by the incredibly talented Kathy Bates,' the executive said. 'We've been picked up for season two,'Bates told co-stars Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, Leah Lewis and David Del Rio on a Zoom call along with show creator Jennie Snyder Urman and executive producer Eric Christian Olsen
