Kathy Bates at 76 Earns Two SAG Noms for Matlock, The Great Lillian Hall
Bates received a 2025 Golden Globe nomination for playing Madeline Matlock in the clever update of the old ’80s series that starred Andy Griffith. Video of the 76-year-old actress went viral on Sunday after she was filmed ripping up her acceptance speech after Shōgun’s Anna Sawai took the Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series. Besides playing Edith Wilson in the movie, Bates also executive produced the film with Lange, Tom Cappello, Michael Cristofer and Alex Platis.
