Kate wows in nautical outfit as she smashes whisky against ship in naming ceremony
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, wowed in a nautical outfit as she joined Prince William in Glasgow to name the HMS Glasgow, a state-of-the-art Type 26 anti-submarine frigate
Stepping up to the platform amidst cheers from hundreds of BAE workers and their families, as well as the 45-member crew, she declared: "I have the pleasure to name this ship HMS Glasgow, may God bless her and all who sail on her". Kate then pressed a red 'launch' button to swing a premium bottle of single malt whisky from Clydeside Distillery into the hull, a symbolic gesture believed to bestow good fortune upon the ship and her sailors. Kate, who looked lovely in a navy and white Suzannah London coat dress reflecting the Scottish flag's colours and a thistle brooch, was appointed as the sponsor of the 8,000-tonne warship in June 2021.
