Kate Middleton's grandmother Valerie Middleton was an incredible WWII codebreaker who played an important role in the Second World War, with Kate telling her fascinating story

Kate shared an intimate family snapshot that features he grandmother, Valerie Middleton during a Voluntary Aid Detachment with the British Red Cross in World War II. The heartfelt note said: "I would like to thank and remember the many thousands of staff and volunteers who, over the years, have contributed tirelessly to the organisation's work, including my great-grandmother, Olive, and my grandmother, Valerie, who both served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment with the British Red Cross.
