Today marks the 80-year anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day when the nation rang church bells and gathered to celebrate the end of hostilities, recalling the jubilant crowds at Buckingham Palace calling for King George VI as peace was declared after nearly six years battling Hitler's Nazi regime, with only the conflict against Japan to be concluded. The King and Prince William observe the two-minute silence (Image: PA)As the service concludes, the iconic tune of 'We'll Meet Again', made famous by the beloved forces' sweetheart, the late Dame Vera Lynn, will fill the air. The four-day celebration marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day will reach its peak on Thursday evening with a star-studded concert at London's Horse Guards Parade.
