Kate Middleton 'wants to axe Royal Family tradition this Christmas'
The Royal Family's Christmas traditions will be in the spotlight over the coming weeks, with one custom in particular on the chopping block if Kate Middleton has her way.
In recent years, the Princess of Wale s has been hosting an annual Christmas carol concert, adding a touch of her own festive spirit. Reports suggest she's looking to discard a long-standing Royal practice she finds "weird" – the exchange of gifts on Christmas Eve, a tradition dating back to Queen Victoria's time, reflecting the family's German roots. Victoria's hubby, Prince Albert, is credited with popularising the Christmas tree tradition in the UK, a trend initially set off by another German import, Queen Charlotte, way back in 1800, reports the Mirror.
