Kate Garraway warned first year without husband Derek would be ‘tough’

Kate Garraway faced a heart-wrenching year following the death of her husband, Derek Draper and she was warned it would be a hard first year.

“I jumped at the offer, knowing that Vickie would hold my hand through our first holiday without Derek and distract any quietness with lots of fun and celebration. The family’s usual birthday routine included celebrations with the grandparents and Derek, something that would be absent this year. The Good Morning Britain presenter said she was “concerned” it might just be Billy and her “celebrating on our own” which she worried could have “felt flat and sad and exaggerated his dad’s absence”.
