On “Papasito,” the singer folds in English lyrics into the fun, crafting a merengue track about a Latina trying to win an American man’s heart. “The visual narrative of Tropicoqueta is inspired by the Latina vedettes from many years ago, who were criticized a lot because they used their bodies to put on a show,” Karol said in an extensive interview with Rolling Stone. Back in 2021, the Colombian singer teamed up with Tiësto to release the dance-pop hit “Don’t Be Shy,” which was later featured on the DJ’s 2023 album Drive.
