Judge Backs Sony Over CBS in High-Stakes Battle Over ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy’ Deals
A judge refused to grant an injunction, allowing Sony to take over distribution of 'Wheel of Fortune' and 'Jeopardy.'
A judge on Thursday allowed Sony to take over distribution of “ Wheel of Fortune ” and “ Jeopardy,” in a major blow to CBS, which has syndicated the lucrative shows for decades. If the ruling stands, it would mark the end of a partnership that dates to the early 1980s, when the shows were produced by Merv Griffin Enterprises and distributed by King World. In his ruling on Thursday, Brazile credited the testimony of a former CBS vice president, Roxanne Pompa, who alleged that the game shows were “relegated to the back seat” in favor of CBS-owned programming.
