This year, he’s back with two movies in contention for the Palme d’Or: Kelly Reichardt’s art heist picture The Mastermind and Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound, in which O’Connor stars with Paul Mescal. While en route to the New York set of the untitled Steven Spielberg/Amblin/Universal film where he’s been cast alongside Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson and Emily Blunt, O’Connor said of Spielberg, “He’s great.
