Joni Mitchell performs cover of honoree Elton John's 1983 hit I'm Still Standing at Gershwin Prize ceremony in Washington D.C.


The singer-songwriter, 80, was part of festivities at DAR Constitution Hall March 20, which aired Monday on PBS, delivering her own version of John's 1983 hit.

Music icon, 80, sang her own version of John's hit at March 20 event She was joined onstage by Annie Lennox, 69, and Brandi Carlile, 42 Mitchell was honored in 2023 with Gershwin Prize for Popular Song Other artists who covered songs by John and Taupin as part of the March 20 event included Metallica, who played Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding; and Charlie Puth, who sang Something About the Way You Look Tonight. Maren Morris, Garth Brooks, Billy Porter and Jacob Lusk took the stage at the proceedings, which also featured appearances from industry legends including Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Carole King and Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
