Jonathan King Takes President Post At Zhang Xin's Closer Media
New titles this year also include Oliver Hermanus’s The History Of Sound, starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Conner, recently acquired by Mubi in North America and Focus Features internationally; Alice Winocour’s Couture, starring Angelina Jolie; and upcoming documentary features Musk, with the Elon Musk pic directed by Alex Gibney for HBO Documentary Films and Universal Pictures Content Group, and Orwell, directed by Raoul Peck and acquired by Neon Films. King joins Closer Media from Concordia Studio, the independent company run in partnership with documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim and backed by Laurene Powell Jobs’ Emerson Collective. At Concordia, he produced narrative films including Ben Cleary’s Swan Song with Mahershala Ali and Glenn Close, and Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, currently in post-production.
