Jon Stewart Celebrates Assad Fall, Continues to Dread Second Trump Reign

Jon Stewart addressed the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and discussed Donald Trump's impending presidency on 'The Daily Show.'

The late-night host spent the majority of his monologue segment celebrating the news that President Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria had fallen to rebel forces, who united from across the nation against the brutal dictator. “You know it’s the real deal because they sealed it with the universal symbol of fallen dictatorships: the traditional toppling of the statues,” he added. Stewart referred to Trump as the “incoming United States president and, I’m assuming, future statue haver.” He added that Trump’s visit to Paris continued the “long American tradition of not waiting for the inauguration to become president and head overseas and meet with allies and remind everybody how fucking weird he is about shaking hands.”
