Jon Stewart Brings ‘The Daily Show’ Its Highest Viewership on Comedy Central Since His Exit in 2015

Jon Stewart's second episode back at the 'Daily Show' show's highest viewership on Comedy Central since Stewart's final episode as host in 2015.

On Monday night, 1.3 million viewers tuned into Comedy Central to see Stewart host “ The Daily Show ” for the second time since the surprise announcement of his return. Though some post-2015 episodes of “The Daily Show” have totaled above 1.3 million viewers, none reached that height without the advantage of simulcasting on other Paramount-owned networks, which Monday’s telecast did not do. These figures, drawn from Nielsen’s Live + Same Day data, also exclude streaming, where “The Daily Show” continues to perform well.
